On Thursday, 25 February 2016, the leadership of the Civil Air Patrol held a reception that kicked off a year celebration of the 75th birthday of the Civil Air Patrol organization. While the CAP was actually created on 1 December 1941, the Board of Governors felt that it was an event that required an entire year to honor.
Formed six days before the beginning of World War II, the organization brought together concerned private aviators who wanted to support their country in some way. The organization was originally the aviation branch of the national civil defense effort.
The Arlington Composite Squadron will join with its fellow 1700+ Civil Air Patrol units to celebrate this historic time.
