Arlington Composite Squadron IT Update for January 2013

Happy New Year! I have two brief Information Technology updates as we begin 2013.

First of all, CAP national headquarters has decided to increase the strength of eServices passwords. You are not required to change your password immediately (although you can if you wish), but you will now be required to select a new password every 90 days. All passwords must be at least eight characters in length and must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories: uppercase letters (A-Z), lowercase letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), and special characters. This is generally good practice for any computer account with a password.

Also, one of our cadets identified a useful app that is available for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) called “CAP Cadet.” It includes links to a number of CAP manuals, handbooks, and other information. This app is available on the App Store. For those with Android devices, there is a similar app called “Civil Air Patrol for Android” which can be downloaded from Google Play. Please note that neither of these apps was developed by or endorsed by the Civil Air Patrol. It is also CAP’s policy that links or references to individuals or companies do not constitute an endorsement of any information, product, or service you may receive from such sources.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions about this or any other CAP-related IT issue and I’ll do my best to help.
